The recent earthquakes highlighted the urgent need to strengthen emergency response capacities in Venezuela. This project will support the Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management Authority of the Capital District by enhancing its operational, logistical, communication and coordination capacities for disaster preparedness and response. Implemented by the Venezuelan Red Cross, in partnership with the German Red Cross and with Swiss support, the intervention will contribute to a more effective, coordinated and resilient disaster risk management system for the benefit of vulnerable communities.
SUD, UNFPA, Responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

The project aims to improve the safety, dignity, and recovery of women, girls, and vulnerable populations affected by Gender-Based Violence in Sudan. It focuses on delivering lifesaving GBV and health services while strengthening prevention, risk mitigation, and social norms change in a highly fragile and conflict-affected context. The project is also highly relevant given the scale of protection risks, displacement, and limited access to essential services, particularly for women and girls.
LEB UNICEF - Support to Sustainable Water Management and Digital Governance in Lebanon

Lebanon’s simple, practical and sustainable knowledge platform for data-based decision-taking by public water institutions will allow for a more sustainable use of groundwater, with improved understanding of one strategic aquifer essential for the livelihoods of people and agriculture. It directly builds on Switzerland expertise in data and model-based water management in karstic morphologies and complements the Switzerland portfolio for sustainable service delivery in Lebanon.

Support to earthquake-displaced families and their host households in La Guaira in Venezuela

Following the earthquakes in Venezuela, Switzerland is supporting a programme implemented by Caritas Venezuela that provides multipurpose cash transfers to displaced families and their host families in La Guaira to help them meet their basic needs. Beyond addressing urgent humanitarian needs, the project will generate operational learning to support the wider use of cash assistance in future post disaster responses in Venezuela.
JOR, GIZ, Wastewater Treatment in Azraq

In partnership with the EU, Switzerland will contribute to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) serving Azraq municipality and the nearby refugee camp. The proposed project stems from the Government of Jordan’s (GoJ) interest in developing integrated sanitation services that benefit both Jordanians and refugees, while also protecting the area’s groundwater resources. Switzerland will build on its established relationships with local communities to support efficient and sustainable wastewater management and demonstrate the potential of wastewater reuse.
Emergency contribution to UNESCO for the preservation and restoration of the damaged Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra heritage site

Switzerland’s contribution will support UNESCO’s work in safeguarding Ukraine’s cultural heritage amid ongoing war. This single-phase contribution will target the immediate preservation of the damaged Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra through winterization measures. It will also allow design documentation to be prepared for its future full consolidation and reconstruction. This support helps strengthen the resilience of Ukrainian institutions and communities.
Survey and Mapping Mines and Explosive Hazards in Yemen – Phase II

The three-year project aims to reduce protection risks associated with landmines and explosive ordnance in conflict-affected areas of Taiz and Yemen’s West Coast through survey, mapping, explosive ordnance disposal and risk education. By supporting evidence-based, gender-responsive mine action, the intervention contributes to safer access to services and livelihoods, increased freedom of movement, and progress towards Yemen’s mine action obligations.
France: SET Forest Fires, July 2026

Due to the devastating forest fires in several parts of France and resulting needs for international response the French authorities submitted a demand to Switzerland for assistance. Based on the agreement between SDC/H and the Swiss Armed Forces (ADRIANA) a joint deployment (SDC/Swiss Armed Forces) with two Superpuma helicopters (Swiss Air Force) and respective staff members is planned to support the French responders to limit damage of nature and infrastructure by dropping water on the burning areas and in particular to protect and support the affected population. A similar deployment took place in August 2021 in Greece.

The intervention aims at supporting Moldova’s transition from fragmented emergency assistance towards more integrated health financing and service delivery for refugees and other vulnerable foreign populations. It combines developing sustainable health financing mechanisms and strengthening the institutional capacity of the public healthcare system with community outreach, for a more resilient and inclusive health system.
