BACKUP Health Technical support for Global Fund country partners

Based in Geneva, the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria does not have representations in the countries receiving its grants. To foster effective the implementation of its support, the Global Fund relies on coordination mechanisms that gather the main country-based partners, including people affected by the diseases. SDC co-financing of the BACKUP Health initiative aims at strengthening this multi-stakeholder management of Global Fund grants, reinforce accountability and increase the impact of the Global Fund.

Backstopping Mandate Health Focal Point and Health Network

The objective of this backstopping mandate is to support SDC’s core competence in health and provide advisory services to SDC’s health focal points, SDC’s Global Programme Health and to the members of SDC’s health network. The backstopping support shall provide on demand services that strengthen SDC’s technical capacity, quality and results in the health sector.

Sanitation Solutions for Underserved Communities in Jordan

The amount of water available from conventional sources in Jordan is decreasing dangerously, the population is increasing constantly and additional sources are needed urgently. By using treated wastewater as an alternative resource Jordan could reduce its dependence on fresh water. Proven Swiss expertise in the sanitation sector aims at increasing the efficiency of wastewater treatment systems and on turning wastewater streams into physical and financial resources. This will not only provide additional water but also reduce health risks and protect groundwater.

Accompagnement des Organisations Paysannes et développement de systèmes de marchés durables

Confrontées à de nombreux défis liés aux effets du changement climatique, à la sécurisation foncière et à l’accès aux marchés, les exploitations familiales peinent à améliorer leurs revenus et à contribuer à la sécurité alimentaire nationale. Le programme vise à renforcer les organisations paysannes et à développer des partenariats avec le secteur privé pour accroitre l’offre des services d’appui/conseil aux exploitations familiales et ainsi contribuer au développement économique durable de 75'000 ménages.

NRC: Protection, humanitarian assistance and durable solutions for people affected by the armed conflict in Chocó and by the humanitarian crisis on the border Colombia-Venezuela

SDC will support NRC in reducing the vulnerability of the population affected by the ongoing armed conflict in Chocó and by the humanitarian crisis on the border Colombia-Venezuela. On one hand, responding to the impacts as a result of the prolonged crisis within Venezuela, the population is expected to develop the capacity to identify protection risks and strategies to mitigate them. On the other hand, as for the internal situation in Chocó in the frame of the victims’ reparation, the project seeks to promote their active participation in processes addressed to implement durable solutions.
