Allocation of SDC Funding to ICRC Operations in 2020

SDC funding to ICRC operations allows the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to respond proactively and to provide immediate protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. In line with the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) principles, Switzerland recognizes the necessity of predictable and flexible funding to respond to changing needs in humanitarian crises.

IHEID Revue internationale de politique de développement (phase finale)

With the objective to nurture facts-based debates on emerging issues pertaining to development policy and international cooperation, the Geneva-based journal "International Development Policy Review" (DevPol) regularly publishes peer-reviewed scientific research in different formats. DevPol also offers opportunities for young researchers from the Global South to publish their work and get exposure to the broader academic community.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is the leading and coordinating agency on health-related issues within the United Nations system. Switzerland supports its mandate to ensure the highest attainable level of health and well-being for all (SDG3). WHO’s normative function is its key strategic comparative advantage in global health governance. Its rights-based approach to health is also critical for advancing health equity. Switzerland’s programs are leveraged by the policy dialogue jointly carried out with WHO.

Chinese Zero Emission Buildings with Swiss Know-How (ZEB China)

By upgrading building emission standards, supporting demonstration buildings and enhancing capacities of professionals with Switzerland’s leading know-how on sustainable construction, the project will support low-carbon development of China’s building sector, which is the biggest in the world. It will also benefit the public health by improving the thermal comfort of buildings and reducing air pollution resulting from heating and cooling.

Support of the UN Con-vention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

1.5 billion people in more than 100 countries are affected by desertification and 42% of the world’s poor live in these areas. 12 million hectares of land are lost by desertification every year. The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) links sustainable land management to social and economic development to achieve its goal of combating desertification/land degradation and mitigating the effects of drought.

La migration en Afrique de l’Ouest est en grande partie intra régionale, et se fait principalement à des fins de travail. Grâce à sa longue expérience en migration et développement (M&D), la Suisse vise à faciliter la contribution des migrant-e-s au développement socio-économique de la sous-région par la voie d'initiatives qui ont trait à leur protection, leur meilleure inclusion dans les zones urbaines, ainsi qu’à leur plus grande implication dans les trajectoires de développement des pays concernés.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation a leading global advocacy organization whose member organizations in over 165 countries provide sexual and reproductive health services at local level and context-specific policy solutions that mainly benefit the poor and vulnerable.

Strengthening State Strategies for Climate Actions (3SCA)

01.01.2020 - 31.12.2025

Responding to the Government of India’s request for Swiss expertise in disaster risk reduction and water resource management in mountain ecosystems, the project will support the Himalayan States of Uttarakhand and Sikkim to improve resilience against climate change in these sectors. Through relevant Government institutions, the project will build capacities for replication of project inter-ventions in the 12 Himalayan States, support policy uptake and share results regionally and globally.

Swiss Malaria Group (SMG)

The Swiss Malaria Group (SMG) gathers all Swiss-based institutions active nationally and internationally in the fight against malaria. The 16 members’ organizations from the public, private, academic and non-for-profit sectors coordinate their efforts in order to engaging Swiss technical expertise, opinion makers and the general public to provide Swiss leadership against malaria at global and national levels, strengthen research and innovation by Swiss actors and fight malaria on the ground in all affected settings.

Contribution de programme au ré-seau Medicus Mundi Suisse (MMS)

Medicus Mundi Schweiz ist ein Schweizer Netzwerk von 47 Organisationen, die in der internationalen Gesundheitszusammenarbeit tätig sind. Das Netzwerk schliesst wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen ein und hat zum Ziel, das Wissen der Mitglieder so zusammenzuführen, dass die Qualität, Wirksamkeit und Sichtbarkeit der internationalen Zusammenarbeit der Schweiz im Gesundheitsbereich kontinuierlich verbessert wird. Zentrale Gefässe sind u.a. entwicklungspolitische Dialoge mit Parlament, Zivilgesellschaft und Privatsektor.

Water Integrity : Core contribution to the Water Integrity Network (WIN)

Water Integrity and fight against corruption allow for effective governance in the water sector. Water integrity is a prerequisite for the efficient achievement of safe water and adequate sanitation for all (SDG 6). The support to WIN’s strategy contributes to increase transparency, accountability and participation in the water sector at global, regional and local level. WIN has developed a set of tools to diagnose corruption and to improve governance in the water sector. Through WIN’s advocacy work at global, regional and local level, and implementation of country initiatives in Kenya, Benin and Bangladesh capacities to assess the status of governance and prepare for action are strengthened. Right holders are empowered to claim better water management, equitable and sustained access to water and sanitation, and to hold duty bearers accountable.
