SUD, OCHA: Sudan Humanitarian Fund 2026

Over 33 million people in Sudan require humanitarian assistance. The Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF), one of the UN’s country-based pooled funds, supports a coordinated and principled response to save lives and protect people in need. It enables a wide range of frontline partners to respond swiftly and effectively to priorities outlined in the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) and the Humanitarian Coordinator’s (HC) Vision Paper, as well as to emerging emergencies.
MPP: Access to patented medicines

Although patents protect medical products, they may limit their access in low-resource settings. Medicines Patent Pool negotiates voluntary licenses with patent holders, including Swiss companies, and grants them to generic manufacturers to reduce prices. Support from SDC enables people in low- and middle-income countries to access quality-assured medicines and technologies that are appropriate, affordable, safe and effective against non-communicable diseases and pandemics.
Accelerate Registration of Medical Products

Limited access to safe, effective and quality medical products in Africa is mainly due to lengthy and unharmonized approval procedures. In collaboration with WHO and Swissmedic, Switzerland is supporting African medicines regulators to both improve the efficiency of and harmonize their regulatory procedures and processes. This will give them greater autonomy and sustainability in making life-saving medical products available to their populations.
UNHCR Additional Contribution 2026

Additional funding is provided to UNHCR to sustain its critical assistance and protection monitoring for returnees at border points with Iran and Pakistan in 2026 and to support the reintegration process. Support to the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC)

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a global partnership of states, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations working to slow near-term global warming by reducing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). Rapid cuts to these pollutants are among the most effective levers to limit warming in the coming decades, while delivering substantial co-benefits for air quality, public health, and food security. Switzerland supports the Coalition to assist low- and middle-income countries in implementing effective mitigation strategies.
UNICEF EMOPS, Core Contribution 2026-2028

UNICEF’s Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS) ensures that the organisation is equipped to lead effective humanitarian action for children in complex emergencies. It provides oversight, strengthens preparedness and response, and advances humanitarian coordination and standards. SDC’s support to EMOPS enables UNICEF to lead such interagency coordination and standard setting in areas including WASH, Education, and Child Protection.
International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Core contribution 2026-2027

The CGIAR is a global partnership for agricultural research for a food-secure future. Its science is dedicated to poverty reduction, food and nutrition security, ecosystems management, climate adaptation and mitigation and gender equality and social inclusion. The CGIAR has a singular role in providing global public goods and innovations through high-quality research and evidence generation. Switzerland is a founding member of the CGIAR, and Swiss scientists and institutions are involved in CGIAR-led research programmes.

UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) is mandated by Member States to manage the Resident Coordinator (RC) system and serves as the engine for the implementation of the UNDS reform. Switzerland supports the reformed RC system since its launch in 2019, because it improves efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of the UN’s work at the country level. The contribution strengthens the credibility of Switzerland’s multilateral dialogue in support of the wider UN reforms.

En Suisse latine, il y a 7 fédérations cantonales de coopération internationale (CI). Ces fédérations cantonales et leurs partenaires agissent, en réseau de manière concertée, pour la contribution à la mise en oeuvre de la stratégie de la CI 2025-28 sur 4 objectifs spécifiques (cofinancement de projets/programmes, dialogue institutionnel, travail en commun et information), cherchant à accroître leur impact (effets multiplicateurs) sur la réduction de la pauvreté dans les pays du Sud, afin de rendre leurs actions plus efficaces, coordonnées, cohérentes et légitimes. Les fédérations jouent un rôle d’interfaces entre leurs organisations membres et les pouvoirs publics – communes, cantons et Confédération, mais également avec le secteur privé et les universités de leur région.
Health Enhancement and Lifesaving (HEAL) Ukraine

The World Bank's Health Enhancement and Lifesaving (HEAL) project is a key instrument for sustaining Ukraine's health system during the ongoing war by financing essential health services, mental health, rehabilitation, primary healthcare, hospital modernization, and institutional strengthening. Complementing other Swiss-supported health projects that strengthen policies, workforce and institutions, HEAL ensures that these improvements translate into accessible, quality health services. Switzerland's contribution to the project will improve energy resilience, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare during winter and strengthening long-term health system resilience.
