25.06.2026 – Important information

Several earthquakes have struck Venezuela over the past few hours. The FDFA is closely monitoring the situation and expresses its deepest sympathy to all those affected by the earthquake and to their families and loved ones. The Embassy of Switzerland in Caracas is in contact with the local authorities. Caracas International Airport is currently closed.

Swiss nationals as well as Swiss tourists currently in the country are required to follow the instructions issued by the local authorities. The decision to undertake or interrupt a trip remains at the discretion and responsibility of the travellers themselves. Return journeys must be arranged individually or through a travel agency. Please follow the FDFA’s travel advice and also obtain information independently on the current situation. Tourist travel to Venezuela, as well as any other travel that is not urgent, is discouraged. In general, travel to certain parts of the country is not recommended.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Caracas is currently closed but remains operational and provides limited services. It can only be contacted by email.

In case of emergency, the FDFA Helpline in Bern can be reached 24/7 at +41 800 24 7 365 or +41 58 465 33 330 or by email at helpline@eda.admin.ch.
