Hintergrund

The people of Yemen experience a prolonged crisis with 18.2 million individuals in need of aid due to conflict, a weak economy as well as collapse of services and institutions.

The ICRC has been working in Yemen since the civil war in 1962. It responds to the humanitarian consequences of armed conflicts and other violence by: improving access to water and medical care; providing relief and livelihood support; minimizing weapon-contamination hazards; monitoring the treatment and living conditions of people held in relation to conflict; enabling people to restore contact with their relatives; and boosting forensic capacities. The ICRC promotes respect for IHL. The ICRC is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to ensure protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence.

Ziele Providing immediate protection and assistance for all people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.
