Vocational Education and Training (VET) Project

The overall goal of this project is to enable rural youth to participate in quality Vocational Education and Training (VET) in order to become more employable and to help them overcome or avoid the poverty trap. The major strategic elements of the project include: a) A focus on young people in rural areas, both male and female; b) Alignment with Mongolian Government policy priorities and support for a high level of national ownership and active political will in relation to the issue; c) A focus on the western region of Mongolia, where there are no other donor activities or mining investments; d) Promotion of a focused intervention (VET) that has a strong and positive correlation with people’s employability and the country’s economic and social development; and e) Benefiting from an important Swiss comparative advantage.

Microseguros y microcréditos para la seguridad alimentaria de los pequeños campesinos

El cambio climático afecta gravemente a la seguridad alimentaria de las pequeñas explotaciones agrícolas de Zambia y de Malawi. Un proyecto que combina microseguros, microfinanzas y medidas de prevención de catástrofes tiene por objeto potenciar su capacidad de adaptación. En Etiopía y Senegal se han registrado ya resultados prometedores.

Strengthening Coordination of National Climate Change Programme (PRONAGECC)

This project will support Peru in installing an inter-ministerial coordination mechanism that will ensure a concerted response of the government to the challenges of climate change in the country. Concrete pilot activities will be supported in three different sectors and three different regions of the country. The experience gained through the implementation of the Peruvian National Strategy for Climate Change will offer relevant learnings from which other countries will be able to benefit.

Preventing Overweight and Obesity

The project aims at preventing overweight and obesity in Polish society through wide-spread educational measures on nutrition and physical activity, as well as through  treatment activities among overweight people. Pregnant women and school children are particularly targeted in this national programme.

Iniciativa para el maíz en África Austral

La „New Seed Initiative for Maize in Southern Africa“ (NSIMA) investiga, por una parte, variedades de maíz que son tolerantes a la sequía. Estas variedades, además, pueden dar mayores cosechas que las variedades normales, incluso con suelos poco fértiles, lo cual redunda en una mayor seguridad alimentaria. Por otra parte, el proyecto coopera con actores estatales y privados del sector del maíz a fin de fomentar la producción y el comercio de semillas (también para los pequeños productores).
