Support to Safe Spaces for Women, Youth and Children in Gaza Strip

In 2019-2020, Switzerland will support the Culture and Free Thought Association (CFTA) and the Culture and Arts Association (NAWA) in the Gaza Strip to provide quality educational and cultural services in safe learning environments for children, youth and women, including persons with disabilities. This contribution aims to enhance the inclusion of marginalized groups in local development and in community-led initiatives, and to prevent wider spreading of violent extremism and radicalisation.

Return and Reintegration of Migrant Workers in Bangladesh

The project’s over-arching goal is to make reintegration economically and socially sustainable for returnee migrants, so that they do not feel obliged to re-migrate. The project will raise awareness of the obstacles returnee men and women migrants are facing. The collaboration with European partners will allow to influence the discourse on dignified and development-oriented migration and return in Bangladesh

Stay, Deliver and Protect (SDP)

Afghanistan continues to face a protracted humanitarian crisis. Armed conflict results in large-scale population displacements and a high number of civilian casualties. Insecurity causes significant challenges to humanitarian access and responses, especially where they are needed most. "Stay, Deliver and Protect" aims to facilitate humanitarian access and to promote protection of education, protection of civilians, psychosocial support and humanitarian coordination in conflict-affected communities.

Relief International: Providing educational opportunities for Syrian refugees in Za’atari and Azraq camps

SDC’s contribution will help to maintain essential education services provided by Relief International (RI) for Syrian refugee children and youth in Za’atari and Azraq camps especially after the drastic funding cuts announced by UNICEF in June 2018. The project contributes to retain school-aged refugee children in the formal education system by providing support through: 1) Remedial Education services for in-school children with learning difficulties and 2) the certified drop-out programme for out-of-school children who can only go back to school if they complete the programme.

She Leads – Women Leadership Programme

Federalism has created a historic opportunity for some 14’000 Nepalese women, over half of them from socially discriminated groups, to serve for the first time as elected representatives at local level. However, most elected women at local level remain excluded from political decision making due to discrimination based on patriarchal norms and values, and lack of resources and networks. The project promotes women leadership to support the peace process and to prevent future conflicts.

Policy advice for efficient VET reform in Serbia

Through this policy support to the Serbian Ministry of Education, governance mechanism of the new VET law will be put in place in a transparent and inclusive manner. State capacities will be able to evaluate the VET system. By increasing the outreach, the new system will be more need-based and available to all. All this will contribute to increased employment options for VET graduates. Partners are the Center for Education Policy (Serbian NGO) and the Swiss KOF.

EAMRP - East African Migration Routes Project

With a regional migration program, Switzerland contributes to better protection, provide livelihood perspectives and promote adequate policies for children and youth along the migration route in Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt. Different States and non-States actors are strengthened to better respond to migrant children and youth’ s needs, address their risks to exploitation, abuse and violence. This programme builds on the strategic link between international cooperation and migration policy in a priority region.

Program Contribution to Terre des Hommes Schweiz 2019 - 2020

Youth, especially girls, are far more exposed to missing out economic opportunities, gender based violence and HIV-Aids than adults. TdH Schweiz promotes social participation of young people in nine countries in Africa and Central and South America, with a specific focus on prevention of violence, promotion of income opportunities and improving the reproductive health of youth. With its combined approach, involving individuals, communities and institutions it reaches out to over 190000 peers and some 2000 institutions.
