As Ukraine enters the fifth year of full-scale war, Swiss Humanitarian Aid continues to prioritize assistance to vulnerable groups, including IDPs, returnees, and communities near active hostilities. Switzerland delivers support through swift direct actions and complementary contributions to emergency interventions led by reliable humanitarian partners, with a strong emphasis on local initiatives by enabling Ukrainian actors to respond quickly and effectively to emerging needs.


New Paths to Peace: Women, Peace and Security

Violent conflicts, fragility and militarization are increasing globally, while rights are reversed, civic space is shrinking, and women’s rights organisations are massively defunded. Yet, building peace requires locally rooted approaches. Women and girls, often facing the greatest harm, remain largely excluded from peace efforts, despite strong evidence that their participation leads to more durable peace. PeaceWomen Across the Globe (PWAG) strengthens local initiatives that advance women’s participation, protection and visibility, thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable peace.


Somalia: Framework for Risk Governance and Adaptive Programming (FRAP)

Somalia and the adjacent arid and semi-arid lands represent a hyper-fragile context characterised by significant security and fiduciary risks. The Framework for Risk Governance and Adaptive Programming strengthens Switzerland’s capacity to operate effectively in such contexts through a range of risk management tools. At the same time, the project also contributes to strengthening the technical and organisational capacity of local actors operating in Somalia.


Vietnam Typhoon Kalmaegi Response

After a series of severe storms and floods between September and December 2025, communities in the Vietnamese provinces of Quang Tri and Gia Lai are now facing a long recovery process. This intervention will help meet the most urgent needs by supporting safer reconstruction, strengthening local disaster preparedness systems and supporting vulnerable households to restore their livelihoods.


Leveraging Innovative Finance for Economic Transformation (LIFT)

Regulatory bottlenecks and weak credit infrastructure continue to restrict domestic and foreign capital flows to Nepal’s private sector, especially its SMEs who remain underserved. Leveraging Swiss position as a force multiplier, this project will advance key reforms, strengthen capacity of federal government, and reinforce the credit infrastructure creating systemic incentives to expand SME financing, thereby mobilizing USD 780 million in private capital and creating 20’000 new jobs.


Redevabilité, sécurité et prévention de l'extrémisme violent pour les citoyennes et citoyens tunisiens (RESPECT), Phase 3

RESPECT est un ensemble d'interventions multi-acteurs traitant la question de la Prévention de l'Extrémisme Violent (PEV). La Commission Nationale de Lutte Contre le Terrorisme (CNLCT) étant l'acteur principal autour de ce sujet, toutes les interventions qui le constituent se sont articulées autour de la stratégie nationale de lutte contre l'extrémisme violent et le terrorrisme (SNLCEVT), spécifiquement sous son axe 2 "Immuniser la société tunisienne et renforcer sa résilience face à l'extrémisme violent.".


Support to Principled Humanitarian Actions in Ukraine

After nearly four years of full-scale Russian aggression, Switzerland’s engagement in Ukraine remains a strategic priority, reflecting its commitment to safe, evidence-based, and principled humanitarian action in Ukraine. In a highly volatile operating environment, SDC’s sustained investment in security coordination, independent humanitarian analysis, and applied reflection on humanitarian principles helps safeguard the effectiveness and credibility of the humanitarian response. This enables humanitarian organisations to operate safely, make informed decisions, uphold Duty of Care, and strengthen preparedness, coordination, and accountability across the response.


JPOs4UN Programme at Multilateral Humanitarian Organizations – 2026-2031

The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme aims at contributing to qualified workforce in the United Nations (UN) with adequate Swiss representation, by financing JPO positions in priority UN humanitarian organizations as identified in Switzerland’s International Cooperation Strategy. The programme provides young Swiss professionals with an opportunity to start a career in the UN while at the same time strengthening the UN capacities to implement the Agenda 2030.


Contribution to the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies 2026-2030

The Geneva Global Hub for EiE (EiE Hub) was formed in Geneva as an alliance to ensure that Education in Emergencies (EiE) is prioritized politically and financially. Switzerland’s continued support will help the EiE Hub carry out its 2026-2030 strategy and continue to influence the global agenda, prioritizing EiE as a lifesaving measure. Through its partnership with the EiE Hub, Switzerland aims at establishing International Geneva as the center of gravity for EiE and strengthen collaboration and leadership on the policy agenda across all humanitarian actors.


Area Based Recovery (ABR) - Reconstruction, Returns, Resilience and Reforms.

Switzerland’s contribution to this multi-donor program supports Ukraine’s recovery efforts in war-affected communities in the country’s East and South. The program uses an area-based approach to ensure the restoration of key services across different sectors for the local population, internally displaced persons, and returnees. The program works through existing governance systems, strengthens  local ownership and capacities and supports an inclusive and participatory recovery process.   


Global Donor Platform for Rural Development GDPRD

The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD) is a unique vehicle for effective and productive public and private donor coordination in respect to rural development, agrifood systems, nutrition and private sector engagement, making joint action more impactful. The GDPRD allows Switzerland to carry new ideas and insights into a broader donor space, and nurtures Switzerland’s own insights at the cutting edge of evidence generation and policy development.


Core Contribution to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

The International Union for Conservation of Nature, uniting State and non-State members worldwide, is the leading global knowledge organization for nature, integration both nature conservation and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods and economies. SDC contributes to implementing the Union’s programme to reverse biodiversity loss and strengthen climate resilience while ensuring gender equality and inclusiveness. Switzerland is a State member and hosts IUCN’s headquarters.
