LAC: Regional Protection and Migration Programme

Latin America is facing the world’s second-largest internal displacement crisis with over 10 million internally displaced persons and more than 7 million migrants in search of better prospects. Switzerland’s regional protection and migration programme addresses causes and consequences of migration and forced displacement in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru by facilitating protection from violence, socioeconomic integration and long-term prospects for vulnerable people on the move.


Support to Mine Coordination in Afghanistan

The Mine Action Technical Cell (MATC) is cornerstone to Afghanistan’s humanitarian mine action, ensuring that lifesaving activities are strategically coordinated and effectively implemented. Through its co-funding, SDC strengthens MATC’s ability to guide and optimize mine action operations – helping to protect communities, safeguard humanitarian access, and maintain the momentum of clearance and risk-reduction efforts across the country.


SUD, SRK, MPCA North Kordofan

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) project Multipurpose Cash Assistance for IDPs and Host Communities in North Kordofan aims to enable vulnerable people to meet their basic needs with dignity and flexibility. At the same time, it strengthens local humanitarian capacity by supporting the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS). This intervention is particularly relevant considering Sudan’s ongoing conflict and displacement crisis, as it promotes people’s self-reliance, self-sufficiency, and increases their sense of autonomy.


Contribution to the Resilience of conflict-affected population via the Livelihood Assistance in Ukraine

Switzerland supports Ukraine’s economic recovery through the Ukraine Economic Resilience Pro-gramme (ERP), by strengthening businesses and creating jobs. The programme works closely with authorities, financial institutions, and the private sector to ensure support reaches those most in need, particularly in war-affected regions. It contributes to restoring local economies while supporting broader recovery efforts, while ensuring that support is sustainable and aligned with Ukraine’s long-term reconstruction priorities.


United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Core Contribution 2026–2029

Switzerland provides core funding to UNDRR, the United Nations focal point for DRR and custodian of the Sendai Framework. The intervention supports UNDRR's Strategic Framework 2026–2030, strengthening disaster risk governance and policy coherence across climate, humanitarian and development agendas. As host state and leading donor, Switzerland leverages this partnership to anchor Geneva as a global hub for prevention and shape the post-2030 DRR architecture.


Mekong River Commission - Contribution to the basket fund for the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2026-2030

The Mekong River Basin is vital for millions, and mounting pressures require coordinated transboundary solutions. The Mekong River Commission, as  the basin's  treaty-based organization, leads this cooperation for sustainable and equitable water management. Drawing on its extensive experience in water diplomacy and integrated water management, Switzerland supports progress on the Basin Development Strategy and the MRC's goal of achieving financial sustainability by 2030.


Municipal Environmental Governance (MEG) Project

The project last phase will ensure consolidation of its previous results and support relevant institutions at different government levels in taking full responsibility for continuing the reforms in the areas of local governance and water sector beyond project duration. Local governments, particularly underdeveloped ones, will be supported in sustainably improving their performance and quality of water services for their citizens.


TRIANGLE Partnerships (for fair and effective labour migration in ASEAN)

Migrant labour is vital to the economic and social development of ASEAN, which is a key trading partner for Switzerland. Through this project, Switzerland supports safer and fairer labour migration by strengthening regular pathways and by  improving the training and recognition of skills. The initiative enhances protection for migrant workers, helping ensure that migration benefits workers, their families, and the wider economy. 


Global: Cook Consulting, Green Leadership, Facilitation of Climate and Environmental Sustainability in Humanitarian Action

Strengthening donor leadership and coordination on climate and environmental sustainability in humanitarian assistance (greening). Focus on supporting the Green Humanitarian Reset, systematically integrating climate and environmental considerations in humanitarian action; thereby following an anticipatory approach. By promoting donor alignment, shared tools, joint approaches and coordinated advocacy, it enhances coherence, efficiency and impact.


El Agua Nos Une – Water Stewardship

El Agua Nos Une, has established a track record of engaging the private sector and facilitating dialogue with public institutions and community actors to address water-related risks and strengthen water governance, using Swiss expertise. In this new phase, it will progress to building broad partnerships (and alliances) which strengthen water governance, leading to a more responsible and sustainable water use, along supply chains in piloted territories of Latin America.


Fostering inclusive partnerships in the Western Balkans

The Western Balkans Fund, established by the governments of six Western Balkans countries, aims to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region. Through its ongoing contribution, Switzerland supports the Fund’s strengthened operations and institutional working modalities. The Fund fosters regional cultural cooperation, scientific exchange, and youth mobility, thereby deepening inter-regional ties and collaboration.

Madagascar, SET Tropical Cyclone Gezani

12.02.2026 - 31.03.2026

Madagascar is struggling with the impact of a series of tropical Cyclones to affect the country in a matter of weeks. Cyclone Fytia and Gezani wreaked havoc along the eastern and estern coast before moving inland, leaving at least 38 persons dead. On the evening of 11.02.26, the Malagasy government issued a request for international assistance, on 12.02.26, Switzerland submitted an offer of assistance focusing on WASH, CVA and other sectors depending on the needs.
