S4C aims at strengthening the vocational education and training (VET) system in Indonesia, by linking selected Polytechnics with the private sector, thus tackling the lack of skilled workers (skills gap) in selected sectors of the indonesian economy.

Background

The project's objective is to enhance 5 Polytechnics in the steel, food processing and wood sectors. It strengthens the VET related to the Polytechnics, aiming to "dualize" the mechanism by integrating the private sector into the VET system. The project's geographical spread creates economic perspectives, contributing also to the economic and social inclusion of peripheral regions.

Objectives

S4C will create more and better jobs. It will promote economic and social inclusion, the reduction of poverty and migration. S4C's overall goal is to tackle the lack of skilled workers in dynamic sectors, thus lead to a strengthened competitiveness of selected sectors.

Medium-term outcomes

Outcome 1: Polytechnic Development: 5 selected Polytechnics are efficiently managed and educate technicians / engineers and technicians in selected sectors as per the needs of the private sector-

Outcome 2: System Strengthening: The GoI, selected sector associations and the Association of Polytechnics and Industries in Indonesia (APII) collaborate to develop and strengthen a tertiary dual Vocational Education and Training (dVET) system in Indonesia.

Results

Expected results:  

Output 1.1.: the board and the management of the 5 Polytechnics are trained/coached in the establishment and maintenance of the necessary management systems and processes-

Output 1.2.: state of the art ‘dual-like’ training approaches are developed in cooperation with the private sector-

Output 2.1.: APII and other relevant institutions such as sector associations, chambers or technoparks are assisted in developing a high quality, demand-led service portfolio-

Output 2.2.: Regular knowledge management and learning mechanisms between key technical vocational education and training (TVET) system stakeholders are facilitated-

Output 2.3.: Tertiary VET system-relevant reforms are assisted as per the needs of the country.
