The Slovak Republic has developed a national network of protected areas with sites of international importance. The goal of the project is to improve the protection and sustainable use of protected areas and selected habitats and the regeneration of natural environment and landscapes.

L’un des projets a pour but d’améliorer l’observation et l’étude des forêts, l’autre de protéger les espaces et les habitats naturels dans les Carpates slovaques. La contribution suisse à ces deux projets avoisine 4,2millions de francs.

Le programme de bourses d'études «Scientific Exchange Programme between the New Member States and Switzerland» (Sciex-NMS.ch) permet aux doctorants et aux post-doctorants des nouveaux pays membres de l'UE d'effectuer un séjour de recherche de durée déterminée en Suisse. Doté de 47millions de francs, il est ouvert aux chercheurs des douze nouveaux pays membres, à l'exception de Malte et de Chypre.

The bilateral Framework Agreement foresees the possibility of utilizing a maximum of 1.5% of the total allocation to cover certain management costs in the beneficiary country. The technical as-sistance will support the submission of qualitative projects, transparent processes, and a good visibility of the Swiss Contribution in Slovakia.

Epuration des eaux usées à Dlhé nad Cirochou

En Slovaquie, seuls environ 65 % de la population est raccordée à un réseau de canalisations. La Suisse a donc soutenu la commune de Dlhé nad Cirochou pour la construction de 6,9 km de réseau. Ainsi, plus de 1100 habitants ont accès au système d’égouts. La station d’épuration des eaux usées est par ailleurs agrandie, ce qui permet d’épurer les eaux d’égout d’environ 1400 habitants supplémentaires.

Dvorniky is located in the west of the country, in the region of Trnava, which, despite its proximity to the capital Bratislava, is still quite underdeveloped compared to the rest of the country. The municipality lags behind in relation to the quality of waste water collection and treatment and has no waste water network system. Only about 60% of the population live in houses that are connected to a public sewage system, which is a very low figure compared to the average in the EU-15 (84.4%). The project aims to provide an adapted and affordable waste water collection and treatment infrastructure and to improve the quality of the underground and surface waters in the region.
