The Slovak Republic has developed a national network of protected areas with sites of international importance. The goal of the project is to improve the protection and sustainable use of protected areas and selected habitats and the regeneration of natural environment and landscapes.

Massnahmen zum Schutz bedrohter Ökosysteme

Die Schweiz finanziert in der Slowakei zwei Biodiversitätsprojekte zum Schutz bedrohter Ökosysteme. Ein Projekt unterstützt die Überwachung und Erforschung von Wäldern, ein weiteres Projekt zielt auf die Erhaltung und den Schutz von Naturgebieten und Habitaten in den slowakischen Karpaten. Der Schweizer Beitrag an diese beiden Projekte beläuft sich dabei auf insgesamt rund 4,2 Millionen Schweizer Franken.

Stipendien für Forschungsaufenthalte in der Schweiz

Das Stipendienprogramm „Scientific Exchange Programme between the New Member States and Switzerland“, kurz Sciex-NMS.ch, ermöglicht Doktorienden und Post-Doktorierenden aus den neuen EU-Mitgliedstaaten einen befristeten Forschungsaufenthalt in der Schweiz. Das Programm mit einem Gesamtvolumen von 47 Millionen Schweizer Franken ist offen für Forschende aus den zwölf neuen Mitgliedstaaten ausser Malta und Zypern.

The bilateral Framework Agreement foresees the possibility of utilizing a maximum of 1.5% of the total allocation to cover certain management costs in the beneficiary country. The technical as-sistance will support the submission of qualitative projects, transparent processes, and a good visibility of the Swiss Contribution in Slovakia.

Abwasserreinigung in Dlhé nad Cirochou

In der Slowakei sind nur etwa 65 % der Bevölkerung an ein Kanalisationsnetz angeschlossen. Die Schweiz unterstützte die Gemeinde Dlhé nad Cirochou daher beim Bau von 6,9 Kilometer Kanalisation. Mehr als 1‘100 Einwohner erhalten Zugang zum Abwassersystem. Weiter wird die Abwasserreinigungsanlage ausgebaut, wodurch das Abwasser von zusätzlich rund 1‘400 Einwohnern aufbereitet werden kann.

Wastewater Collection and Treatment Project Dvorniky

Dvorniky is located in the west of the country, in the region of Trnava, which, despite its proximity to the capital Bratislava, is still quite underdeveloped compared to the rest of the country. The municipality lags behind in relation to the quality of waste water collection and treatment and has no waste water network system. Only about 60% of the population live in houses that are connected to a public sewage system, which is a very low figure compared to the average in the EU-15 (84.4%). The project aims to provide an adapted and affordable waste water collection and treatment infrastructure and to improve the quality of the underground and surface waters in the region.

The Swiss Contribution to enlargement aims to finance a broad variety of projects. The PPF provided the necessary financial assistance to enable Executing Agencies to submit high quality project proposals. This was especially important in the case of complex projects.
