Protection of the Carpathian forest fauna - migration corridors
The project aims at protecting the forest fauna of the Polish Carpathians and adjacent border areas by identifying and promoting migration corridors. Information and awareness building activities shall contribute to improve the knowledge of the importance of migration corridors among the population and public authorities.

- 20 districts of the lesser spotted eagle, for which the borders were allocated and the way of using public space was defined as a result of direct obersvations by the end of the project.
- 8 species covered and migration corridors allocated (red deers, European bisons, mooses, elks, wolfs, bears, lynxes, wild boars identified and described)
- 17 migration corridors for red deers, European bisons, elks, wolfs, bears, lynxes, wild boars identified and described
- 5348 km2 assessed in for there ecological corridors.
- 133 km2 identified (ecological corridors)
- 8 press conferences and 130 press publications/broadcasts in regional and local media published in order to raise the awareness of the significance of the ecological corridors
- 2 thematic conferences on ecological corridors (212 participants)
- 46 recommondations addressed to regional authorities / scientific institutions
- 1 training course for decision makers (39 participants)
- Seminars with 290 participants (promoting the project)
- 18'000 copies and educational brochures distributed
- 1 study tour to Switzerland (21 participants)

Ziele |
The goal of the project is the conservation of the forest fauna refugium in Carpathian mountains (area of Podkarpackie Voivodeship) through determination and conservation of the existing ecological corridors, ensuring maintenance of environmental cohesion for animal population. The programme will improve knowledge and awareness of the authorities, habitants of the region on significance of the ecological corridors and their role and risks connected with civilization development and improper policy of human settlement expansion. |
