Bern, Press releases, 03.11.2011

President Micheline Calmy-Rey will meet EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy in Zurich on 9 November. Besides bilateral relations between Switzerland and the European Union, the topics of discussion will include the euro crisis and selected international issues.

The bilateral talks between Mrs Calmy-Rey, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and EU Council President Van Rompuy will be a continuation of discussions begun during their last meeting on 8 February 2011 in Brussels. After the bilateral meeting, Mrs Calmy-Rey will speak about Switzerland's current financial and economic challenges as part of this year's Churchill Lectures at the University of Zurich. Mrs Calmy-Rey's lecture will be followed by a keynote speech by Mr Van Rompuy.
