Position of FDFA

The FDFA has learned of the announcement of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s death.

The FDFA calls for the respect of human rights and international humanitarian law in Libya. It urges the various actors to exercise restraint and to avoid acts of retaliation, while appealing to them to enter into an inclusive dialogue with a view to establishing stability in the region.

Colonel Gaddafi’s disappearance will enable the National Transitional Council of Libya to continue along the path to democratic transition in a country living under the yoke of a dictator for more than 40 years.
