Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest this Saturday. Switzerland welcomes the release of the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has spent 15 of the last 21 years under house arrest. Switzerland now expects her to be granted human and civil rights including the freedom of expression, association and movement without restriction.   

There are at least a further 2,100 political prisoners detained in Myanmar’s prisons. Switzerland reiterates its appeal to the Government of Myanmar for the immediate release of all political prisoners.
