Bern, Press releases, 13.10.2010

Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey, head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, has today received the Vice-President of the Republic of Colombia in Geneva for a courtesy visit.

At the meeting, Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey and Vice-President Angelino Garzón were both pleased to underscore the satisfactory development of the bilateral agenda and the wide diversity of areas of co-operation between the two countries, which now include issues as diverse as economic co-operation and collaboration at the multilateral level. The meeting provided the opportunity to conduct an in-depth discussion on the priorities of the new government in Colombia as well as on Switzerland’s activities in Colombia in particular in the fields of human rights and humanitarian policy. Mrs Calmy-Rey and Mr Garzón decided to hold the first session of the bilateral political consultations in January 2011.
