War from the Victims' Perspective – Photographs by Jean Mohr

A former delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jean Mohr offers visitors a glimpse into the world of war and armed conflicts. Jean Mohr, born in 1925, is the author of many photo reportages on war victims throughout the world. His work focuses on the long-term consequences of armed conflicts and their impact on people and the environment.

Jean Mohr's photographs portray refugees, show landscapes transformed by conflicts. They suggest how children cope with the effects of war, and how people despite everything find ways to live “normal” lives in the most abnormal of circumstances. The photographs express hope and dignity despite harsh circumstances.

Exhibition shown in Switzerland and abroad
The exhibition launched to mark the 150th anniversary of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the first Geneva Convention is to be shown not only in Switzerland, but also in various Swiss representations abroad. The photographs have so far already been presented in more than 20 countries, including Madagascar, Niger, Hungary, Egypt, Singapore, France, Austria and Israel. Other exhibitions are planned. Events dealing with current humanitarian issues of the host countries take place in parallel of the exhibition.

In Switzerland, Jean Mohr's photographs will be on view from 23 August to 26 October 2014 in the Landesmuseum of Zürich. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
