Localization of Environment in Humanitarian Action

• Local non-governmental and community-based organizations directly involved in humanitarian responses
• Relevant local governmental entities and authorities, including Local Emergency Management Authority (LEMA), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Environment and other national environment offices
• Development and environment organizations
• International and Multilateral Organizations

Outcome 1: The capacity and expertise of local actors is improved through context-specific trainings on environmental mainstreaming, and environmental mainstreaming methodologies are incorporated in their humanitarian programs.

Outcome 2: Local actors and relevant stakeholders are empowered to conduct environmental mainstreaming trainings themselves.

Risultati principali attesi:  

• Context-adapted training curriculums are developed and trainings delivered
• Concepts for the empowerment of local actors are developed
• “Training of Trainers” (ToT) are delivered, and training material is handed over to ToT participants
• Documentations of trainings, its achievements and potentials are disseminated with relevant entities outside the training

Risultati fasi precedenti:   There is a lack of tools, guidelines and trainings to consider environment aspects in humanitarian activities which are adapted to local contexts. Local actors often lack the capacity and/or awareness for environment considerations.
