Annual Conference of Swiss Humanitarian Aid

Some 960 people took part in the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Annual Conference.The conference brings together Swiss humanitarian actors in a different Swiss city every year. An accompanying programme enables participants to discuss topical humanitarian issues. In addition, the conference offers Swiss Humanitarian Aid staff and members of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA) and of partner organisations – who frequently work in remote regions – an ideal opportunity for a personal exchange of ideas with their colleagues. SHA groups of experts hold their annual meetings immediately before the annual conference takes place.

A series of events on cultural and knowledge exchanges between Switzerland and Tunisia

Migrants play a key role in the exchange of culture and knowledge between countries. The SDC will showcase this role focusing on the example of Switzerland and Tunisia in a series of events entitled "More than a Journey". The events, a film screening, a lecture and a panel discussion, are embedded in the art exhibition “The Journey to Tunisia, Klee, Macke, Moilliet” which stands under the patronage of the President of the Swiss Confederation Didier Burkhalter.

Significant progress has been achieved in terms of poverty reduction and human development worldwide over the last decades. However, many groups remain excluded from these positive trends. Exclusion – based on location, gender, race, caste, ethnicity, religion, or disability status – remains a critical development challenge. It is often interrelated with poverty, when certain groups are denied economic opportunities, access to services or political participation. Exclusion impacts the society as a whole, has high economic costs, and may also jeopardize political stability.
