AQUA, a travelling exhibition by the NGO Art for the World, will premiere in Geneva on World Water Day, and will feature works by 30 artists exploring the importance of water for people and the environment. The SDC supports this international exhibition which seeks to raise public awareness of this vital commodity.
Location: Île Rousseau and Château de Penthes, Geneva
30 artists from around the world will showcase their highly individual works at two venues across Geneva: the Île de Rousseau and the Château de Penthes museum. The exhibition is a project developed by the NGO Art for the World to highlight the critical importance of water for the environment and the future of the planet.
The participating artists use various media – video installations, sculptures, paintings and photographs – to explore a wide range of issues such as environmental challenges, biodiversity, climate change and preservation of water resources. These works will offer the general public a fresh take on the subject of water.
Water is a prerequisite for all forms of life and is crucial for agriculture and industry. Although access to clean water and sanitation is a human right, there are still more than 3,5 billion people worldwide who have no access to clean water and about 2.4 billion who live with inadequate sanitation. The SDC works worldwide to ensure the efficient and equitable use of water.
The exhibition premieres in Geneva before travelling to São Paulo, Brazil, where it will run from 15 November 2017 to 27 January 2018.
