18th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur

Tuesday, 04.11.2014 – Sunday, 09.11.2014

From 04 to 09 November 2014, the city of Winterthur will be focused on the big screen as the Internationale Kurzfilmtage take place. In addition to the competition programmes – in which like every year a number of film-makers from the South and East are taking part – there will also be a thematic programme. Alongside film history, contemporary creativity, social affairs, institutions, film-makers and artists will be at the heart of the festival.

This year, the Internationale Kurzfilmtage will highlight the topic of "Framing Europe – Die europäische Idee" in its various programme blocks, including the screening of short films from the Ukrainian collective of film-makers known as Babylon'13. This group looks behind the scenes presented in the media of the conflict in the east of their country and gives individuals a platform to voice their views. The Kurzfilmtage will also raise questions such as "what impact can cinema, particularly short films, have on sociopolitical upheaval?"

Another focal point is on the programme "Indigenous Cinema – Through Our Own Lenses" which looks at film-making by representatives of indigenous peoples.
