Réseau des Entrepreneurs Solidaires - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Madagascar)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

HPSS – Health Promotion and System Strengthening Project in Dodoma, Morogoro and Shinyanga Regions

The Health Promotion and System Strengthening project (HPSS) is improving access to and the quality of health services both in terms of the demand (health promotion, health insurance) and the supply side (drug procurement; health technology maintenance). After a successful pilot phase in the Dodoma region, the Tanzanian government is requesting the SDC to expand this approach to two other regions with a focus on those most at risk (the poor, women, children, youth and the elderly).

Niger, IRC, Protection des personnes déplacées et facilitation à l'accès aux Services dans la région de Diffa

A la suite de l'intensification des attaques brutales du groupe Boko Haram au Nord-Est du Nigeria, ayant tué plus de 15'000 personnes et occasionné le déplacement forcé de populations, la région de Diffa au Niger est sévèrement touchée par l'afflux continu et croissant de personnes déplacées en provenance du Nigeria.

Présent dans la zone depuis 2012, IRC est parfaitement positionné pour poursuivre son programme de services de protection aux populations vulnérables.

Establishment of a Global Hydrometry Support Facility (GHSF) and Innovation Hub

Reliable hydro-meteorological observations and forecasts are critical to implement better water resources management practices and policies. The proposed project, implemented by the World Meteorologiccial Organization (WMO) and the iMoMo consortium will combine traditional with new and decentralized monitoring approaches based on crowd-sourcing with mobile phones, bringing decision-relevant information faster to the users.

Employment Fund, Phase II

The earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May 2015 caused the destruction of 500,000 houses and the damage of 280,000 houses[1]. Nepal does not have sufficient construction workers with knowledge of earthquake resilient technologies. This project will train 3,000 people from the disaster affected districts in reconstruction relevant trades and in the use of earthquake resilient building techniques while 4,000 houses, the trainees own as well as other homes, are built.

In Honduras, strengthening Human Rights (HR), transparency, and the fight against impunity are central to breaking out of the spiral of violence. The role of civil society constitutes an opportunity and at the same time a means to contribute to the construction of Rule of Law. The program supports five civil society organizations (CSO) and the UNDP, with presence in the southern region and Muskitia, so they can work together to promote social audits and protection of Human Rights.

Fair and ethical recruitment of migrant workers

01.07.2015 - 31.12.2018

Approximately 105 million people are currently working outside their country of origin. Many of these migrant workers have profited from international labour recruitment intermediaries. Millions, however, have fallen victim of abusive and exploitative practices by unethical recruiters. Together with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), SDC will implement activities to prevent abuses and exploitation of migrant workers.

Opportunities For Youth Employment

SDC contributes to the existing project Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) implemented by SNV since September 2013, for its upscaling in Tanzania. OYE aims to improve the livelihoods of young women and men by developing and expanding their set of skills and by matching them with existing rural job markets and opportunities for self-employment in agri-business, renewable energy, sanitation and hygiene in 5 regions of the Central Corridor (CC). Co-funding donor of OYE besides SDC is the MasterCard Foundation.

Land Governance in the Urban-Rural Nexus (single phase)

Responsible land governance is a central element in the current process of rural transformation and urbanization in developing countries, but its complex relations to food security and fragility have not received sufficient attention. SDC will support the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN), facilitated by UN-Habitat, in addressing these challenges through preparing pro-poor and gender-sensitive land tools to improve tenure security for urban and rural poor with a conflict-sensitive approach.

Programme d’Appui à la Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (ARTB)

La Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (RTB) est le seul média aujourd’hui qui couvre toutes les régions du pays. Elle participe à l’information et à l’éducation des populations. Cependant, les installations de la RTB Ouaga, centre de production et de diffusion de l’information nationale ont été pris pour cible par les manifestants de l’insurrection populaire des 30 et 31 octobre 2014. En réponse à une demande du gouvernement de la transition, la Suisse s’engage à appuyer la RTB afin qu’elle tienne son rôle durant la transition et soit à terme un Service Public qui travaille pour tous les Burkinabè.

Der gewaltsame Extremismus wird als globale Bedrohung wahrgenommen. Die Schweiz leistet zusammen mit anderen Ländern einen Beitrag an den «Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund». Es ist eine von zahlreichen Massnahmen, um die globale Strategie der UNO umzusetzen. Der Fonds soll in Ländern, die von gewaltsamem Extremismus heimgesucht werden, lokale Initiativen von Organisationen unterstützen, um die Resilienz gegen Radikalisierung zu stärken.
