Think tank NORRAG and the SDC's Education Network are organising a conference on global governance in basic education and vocational training. It will be held on 22 June 2016 and is open to the public.

Ort: Maison de la paix, Geneva. Free entry upon enrolment.

The conference is entitled "The Governance of Education and Training: Agenda 2030 and Beyond” and is being jointly organised by NORRAG – the Network for International Policies and Cooperation in Education and Training – and the SDC's Education Network. Using the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted in September 2015, as a starting point, it aims to assess current trends and challenges for international cooperation actors in education and training in view of the 2030 Agenda and the longer-term outlook.

Discussions will focus on governance at the local, national, regional and international levels; the role of new players such as foundations, think tanks, the private sector and emerging powers; and the links that need to be forged between education and other issues such as employment, healthcare, mobility, conflicts and human rights. The conference will also address the best way to promote more democratic and long-lasting governance in education and the role of International Geneva in this regard.

The event will bring together representatives from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, international organisations, NGOs and private-sector foundations, as well as several academics. Countries of the South will be represented by speakers from South Africa, China and India.

If you wish to take part in the event, please sign up at: norrag-events@graduateinstitute.ch. There are a limited number of places available.
