The two musical concerts that featured the Mozambican timbila master player and percussionist Matchume Zango and drummer Djibra Moussa with Zimbabwean and Swiss guitar rhythm, played by Frank Mavhimira and Matthias Abächerli respectively lived up to its billing.

The collaboration with one of Zimbabwe’s young guitarist, Frank added the local flavour that resonated well with enthusiastic audience in attendance.

In an interview on the side-lines of their performance, Matchume Zango said: “I feel so lucky and honoured to be playing and launching my latest album at HIFA. This is my second time at HIFA, my first was in 2011 when I was part of the Watsamba M'Diou Project and I can tell you that it has been amazing, I can feel the vibes and it was just incredible.”

The presence of this very special ensemble at the 2018 HIFA was supported with funding from Switzerland under its Southern Africa’s Regional Arts Programme.
