Välkommen! Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Stockholm!
If you have reached this page, you know that Switzerland and Sweden are not the same countries and that the Swiss (or at least most of them) do not speak Swedish! But our two countries have a lot in common. The fact that they are sometimes mistaken for each other is no coincidence, and we do not mind. On the contrary, I consider it a compliment to be mistaken for Sweden, such a fantastic country!
Switzerland and Sweden share many values and are very often like-minded. They work closely together on the international stage to promote a rule-based global order, to protect human rights and human dignity, and to ensure a better protection of the environment and its biodiversity. Another common feature is the fact that our two economies are driven by entrepreneurship, innovation and new technologies, with strong service sectors and export industries. There are also similarities in our historical trajectories. Our two countries, once European military powers, have been committed to promoting peace and humanitarian action for almost two centuries.
My colleagues and I at the Swiss Embassy in Stockholm are very much looking forward to working with you to further strengthen the cooperation between Switzerland and Sweden. We would like to introduce you to all that Switzerland has to offer as a destination for education, research, culture or tourism, as well as a place for investment and business.
Our website provides some basic information about Switzerland and its links with Sweden. You will also find information about travelling to and working in Switzerland and about the Swiss political system.
Swiss citizens living in Sweden or visiting the country temporarily will also find information on how the Embassy can assist them in case of need, how to order passports and ID cards and how to access other services. The Swiss Embassy in Stockholm hosts a Regional Consular Centre which provides consular services to all Swiss citizens living in the Nordic and Baltic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia).
Swiss companies interested in the Swedish and Nordic markets can receive support from the Trade Point Nordics – the local branch of Switzerland Global Enterprise, the Swiss trade promotion agency. The Trade Point also assists Nordic companies considering setting up in Switzerland.
