Courtesy visit of Ambassador Urs Schmid to Minister of Interior Bratislav Gasic

On 28th November, Ambassador Urs Schmid made a courtesy visit to Minister Bratislav Gasic. He was accompanied by Roger Flurry, Police Attaché, Jessica Auspurg, Attaché for Diplomatic Affairs and Jovana Mihajlovic, National Program Officer for Migration.

Ambassador Schmid seized the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Gasic on his appointment as Minister of Interior and to underline the very good cooperation between the two countries in the scope of the Migration Partnership established in 2009 and the excellent relations within the Police cooperation.

Switzerland supports financially the Migration Partnership project designed by the Ministry of Interior, together with the Serbian Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and Ministry of Labor, being implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This project is focusing on establishing closer coordination mechanisms as to better identify human trafficking and smuggling of migrants on the Balkan Route.

Ambassador Schmid also thanked the Minister for the good police cooperation between Switzerland and Serbia and mentioned especially the cooperation with the Serbian Criminal Police Directorate, whose head Mr. Bogdan Pušić was present at the meeting.
