Ambassador Urs Schmid took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of digitalization and e-government for Switzerland and for Serbia. Progress in this area is in the mutual interest of both countries, he said. This is also the reason why Switzerland is heavily involved in this area as part of its cooperation program in Serbia. The goal must be to make public administration more citizen-friendly, more transparent and more efficient. Finally, competitiveness and thus the attractiveness for foreign investments could be strengthened. At the same time, it is important to protect the privacy and data of citizens and companies and to respect fundamental rights in the digital sphere as well. This is the only way to strengthen trust in digitization.
