Ambassador Schmid noted that with the signing of the MoU Switzerland will support up to 100 Serbian municipalities to increase their revenues through efficient property taxation and to strengthen the involvement of citizens in local decision-making. He added, that the signing of this MoU marks almost ten years of good cooperation between the Swiss Embassy and the Ministry in this regards.

Switzerland is a committed development partner of Serbia and this year marks 30 years of Swiss-Serbian cooperation. Switzerland will continue its engagement with Serbia also in the years to come and with a special focus on Democratic Governance, Economic Development and Employment, and Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Development.

In the follow-up meeting to the ceremonial signing, the Swiss Ambassador and the Head of Cooperation, Mr. Richard Kohli, had an opportunity to discuss the future orientation of the Ministry concerning local government reforms and the effective steering of the different bilateral projects under the responsibility of the Ministry.
