Successful first Summer camp for students

The Science technology park Belgrade held its first Summer camp for students in June. The camp provided students a platform to build their business capacities, acquire new experiences and for networking. Through the Science technology park Belgrade, Switzerland continues to support young people and their startup businesses.

During the four-day camp, 60 students in 11 teams worked on development of their creativity, entrepreneurial skills and knowledge. The Camp included interactive workshops for creating business ideas and development of the LEAN business model, with a focus on defining problems & solutions, defining the profile & segment of customers, competition & market and developing skills necessary for mapping potential business opportunities. Students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the characteristics of the guerrilla marketing, public presentation skills and team development methods. Camp participants also met with startup founders and members of the Science technology park (STP) Belgrade and to talked to them about their experience in developing a business.

“We have learned how to form a successful startup project, what is needed and what are the stages of development, how to find a niche and our place in the market, how to set up a successful team, how to present ourselves and our idea the best way possible” – said Andjela Uštević, a student of the 4th year of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Her team worked on sports related issues with the idea of making individual trainers available for everyone.

At the closing of the camp, the winning team was announced – Eco table, who deals with the problem of organic waste. The Summer camp for students 2018 was designed for students of all educational profiles with the aim of developing their entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. The camp was organized with the support of the Swiss Government, in partnership with the City of Belgrade and the Career Development Center of the University of Belgrade, sponsored by the Coca Cola.

The Swiss Government supports the establishment and development of the Science technology park Belgrade within the project "Science technology park Belgrade - the new export Instrument of Serbia" (2015-2019) with a value of EUR 1 million. STP Belgrade is currently hosting more than 60 companies developing high-tech products and services in the areas of IT, smart cities, robotics, med-tech and others that are contributing to Serbian economic development and competitiveness in the global market of innovative high-tech products and services.
