Press releases, 28.11.2016

The Drop out prevention model in secondary schools is an innovative model designed and piloted by UNICEF within the Joint Programme for Roma and Marginalised Groups Inclusion.

After the two years’ implementation in 7 municipalities and 10 primary and secondary schools, including the VET schools, it managed to decrease the drop out rate for over 60%  and decreased the absentisam of children at risk of dropping out for 30%. In the same time, the quality of teaching and students achievements were increased and the school ethos was changed toward antidiscrimination, inclusiveness and solidarity. It is expected that this efficient and affordable model of joint cooperation between school teams, local institutions, peers, parents and students will be applied country wide.
