Having handed over his credentials in July 2020, the newly appointed Ambassador of Switzerland, Mr. Bénédict de Cerjat paid a courtesy call on the Hon. President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi at the Presidential Palace on  September 29, 2020. During the meeting bilateral relations between Switzerland and Pakistan - including cooperation in the fields of economy, culture and education came under discussion.

Before taking his new assignment as the Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan, Ambassador Bénédict de Cerjat was the Head of the Americas Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, from August 2016 to June 2020. He also served as the Ambassador of Switzerland to Belgium and NATO from 2011 to 2015, Ambassador of Switzerland to Poland and Belarus from 2007 to 2011, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam from 2004 to 2007. Previously, Mr. de Cerjat served in different functions at the Headquarters of the Swiss Foreign Ministry (1985-1988 and 1996-2000), at the Embassies of Switzerland in Ottawa (1986), Lima (1988-1992), Washington D.C. (2000-2004), and the Mission of Switzerland to the European Communities in Brussels (1992-1996).
