During the meetings, Ambassador de Cerjat stated that Switzerland attributed great importance to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s social and economic development. ‘‘Prosperity in the province is crucial for socio-economic development in Pakistan,’’ he said.

On January 24, Ambassador de Cerjat was invited as a special guest to the launching ceremony of a book titled "Water Profiler of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa", which brings all the scattered knowledge together on water and water related sectors in the province. The research in this book comes from Helvetas’ Water for Livelihood Project. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) was a core donor of the project. This knowledge capital has already resulted in the province’s first Integrated Water Resource Management Strategy.

Moreover, Ambassador de Cerjat met members of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss mutual trade and economic relations between Switzerland and Pakistan. Ambassador de Cerjat said that Switzerland and its companies recognised the market potential of Pakistan, which had more than 200 million consumers. Over the period of past 10 years, Switzerland has been one of the top 5 foreign direct investors in Pakistan, with investments by Swiss companies exceeding $1 billion. Major Swiss companies, such as Nestlé, Habib Metro Bank, Novartis, Sika and SGS are active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Ambassador de Cerjat also visited the historical Mahabat Khan Mosque, the famous Sethi House and the Peshawar Museum. He acknowledged the potential of new cooperation based on the MoU that had been signed between the Rietberg Museum in Zurich and the Department of Tourism, Archeology & Museums of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018 to deepen bilateral cooperation.
