In order to show the value of the cultural and artistic diversity of Pakistan, the SDC is supporting museums, universities and students, focusing especially on the promotion of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2017-18, as a result of continuous attention given by the SDC to the Kalasha minority, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provice began to be increasingly aware of the opportunities and challenges of the protection of this minority. Awareness of SDGs was increased through We the Peoples, We the Arts competition in which 146 students participated and were exposed to the appreciation of international jury members. Thanks to SDC support in 2018, visitors have more than doubled (from 10,000 to 21,000 yearly visitors) to Taxila Museum exhibiting diverse cultural heritage. With SDC support, 23 public universities have now SDG-dedicated UN Corners. Films by six young film makers, including two women, from Pakistan were successfully selected at the International Locarno Film Festival.
