«Verein zur Aufhebung des Notwendigen» is a dinner and it is about democracy. Not democracy as institutional engineering for mass organization, but democracy as something we internalize, as individuals, at the level of our day to day existence. It is about democracy as the realization of our individual and collective desires.
Additionally, this dinner is a performance piece. The venue is a restaurant of sorts, abandoned by the owners, waiters and chefs. Left in the dining room are the guests, where they wait patiently for their meals, each with his and her individual hunger and taste preference.
