MyHotel is preparing hospitality service providers for a digital future

Local news, 18.03.2022

Mongolia, a country with rich history, pristine nature, wildlife, and nomadic cultural heritage, faces challenges in adapting to a new wave of technology in the digital age and identifying ways to accelerate the development of tourism and hospitality services. Through the digitalisation of hospitality services, Mongolia will make progress in building an inclusive and sustainable tourism system that supports economic development.

iHotel LLC has launched MyHotel, a project to drive digitalisation in the hospitality sector, with a budget of 500 million MNT, with SDC contributing 60 percent of its funding. MyHotel is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the hospitality sector by transforming their businesses through affordable and innovative digital tools such as the iHotel and MyHotel platforms.

Through this initiative, over 400 SMEs are receiving in-person consultations and will be connected to international business management systems. The owners of these small enterprises will learn to use modern digital tools for revenue calculation, customer acquisition, and employee information management. We are convinced that the use of online systems will increase the efficiency of these SMEs and attract more domestic and international tourists through transparent, professional, and high-quality services. Use of the platforms is expected to boost employment in the sector, increase sales by at least 20 percent, increase customer acquisition by at least 30 percent, and—most importantly—increase positive customer reviews by at least 20 percent.

iHotel LLC works with hotels, hostels, guesthouses, tourist camps, and ger camps located in Ulaanbaatar and Mongolia’s 21 provinces. All these enterprises are at various stages of the digital transformation process, so tailored solutions have to be introduced. So far, trainers and specialists from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department, province tourism departments, and Mongolian hotel and tourism associations have been trained. The training and consultations have already led to a better knowledge of service management and the improved digital literacy of entities and individuals involved in the project.
