Jointly committed to protecting the environment and to mitigating the impact of climate change, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Kosovo Thomas Kolly and the Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati concluded today a 10 Million EUR worth agreement aimed at improving the management of Kosovo water resources in the next four years. Together with the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure and civil society representatives, Switzerland will promote innovative solutions to enable Kosovo’s rivers to thrive and provide recreational and economic benefits to the people of Kosovo.

Switzerland considers that the out-of-country voting system can certainly be improved and should be tackled sooner rather than later as part of long overdue electoral reforms. The Kosovo authorities can certainly count on Switzerland’s continuous support to the consolidation of democratic processes, including with respect to electoral reforms, to the benefit of Kosovo citizens’ both at home and abroad.

Switzerland trusts that the recent signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Chief State Prosecutor Mr Lumezi and the Basel Institute on Governance will help improve Kosovo’s investigatory capacities. At the same time, the ability to confiscate stolen assets as well as to punish the criminals will be increased.
