During the consultations, the excellent relations between the two countries were highlighted and opportunities of further developing bilateral cooperation in political and economic spheres were discussed. Switzerland is the third most important foreign investor and among the top five trading partners of Kazakhstan and represents Kazakhstan in the governing bodies of the Bretton Woods Institutions and of the Green Environment Facility. Krystyna Marty Lang also emphasized the important role of Kazakhstan in the regional integration, i.a. regarding water cooperation which has been outlined as one of the most challenging but also most promising issues in Central Asia. A further meeting with Deputy Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan, Elvira Azimova, allowed furthermore to consider a number of projects on technical cooperation in the field of human rights.
During her stay in Kazakhstan, Mrs. Krystyna Marty Lang also met with the President of Nazarbayev University, Shigeo Katsu, and paid a visit to the museum-memorial complex "ALZHIR".
