Celebrating excellent bilateral relations and friendship at the Japan-Swiss Spring Ball 2017

On Monday, March 6, over 200 distinguished guests attended the Japan-Swiss Spring Ball – one of the biggest annual social festivities celebrating the friendly relations between Switzerland and Japan. The event, in the gracious presence of H.I.H. Princess Takamado, featured concerts by two renowned musicians from Switzerland and Japan, Stacey King and Ryosuke Suho.

The annual Japan Swiss Spring Ball is organized jointly by the Japan-Swiss Society and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ), under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Jean-François Paroz, Ambassador of Switzerland to Japan.

This year’s ball, on Monday, March 6, attracted over 200 guests at the “Fuji” Banquet Hall of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. In his opening address, Ambassador Jean-François Paroz, emphasized the strong ties between the two countries, Japan being the 4th trading partner of Switzerland and Switzerland the 6th investor in Japan. Tadateru Konoe, president of the Japan-Swiss Society, highlighted the virtues of federalism and direct democracy. Michael Mroczek, president of the SCCIJ, underlined the high quality standards common to both Japan and Switzerland. In the course of the evening, the guests enjoyed high-end cuisine, Swiss wine, top-notch music performances and ample dancing opportunities. In addition to the gracious presence of H.I.H. Princess Takamado, the distinguished guests at the Ball included the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Japan, Architect Kengo Kuma and many high-level members of the Swiss and Japanese business community.

The traditional charity-purpose raffle featured gorgeous prizes such as luxury Swiss watches, jewelry goods and a round-trip airline tickets for two to Switzerland with free hotel stays.
