Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum, visits Tokyo

On the occasion of his visit to Tokyo, Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) met important partners of the WEF at the Swiss Residence on 3 July 2017.

On the occasion of his visit to Japan, Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum was the guest of honor of a reception organized at the Swiss residence on 3 July 2017. Representatives from economic, financial, academic and media institutions which are significant partners of the WEF in Japan were invited to meet Professor Schwab, who shared with them his thoughts on the main challenges facing Europe and Japan in the context of the 4th industrial revolution. He also referred to the outcomes of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, which had just taken place in Dalian in the People’s Republic of China from 27 to 29 June 2017.

In his welcoming address, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Japan, Jean-François Paroz, praised Professor Schwab as one of the outstanding individuals who, like Henry Dunant, founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross, have enabled Switzerland and cities like Geneva and Davos to be highly visible on the global map.

Japan is strongly represented at the World Economic Forum traditionally, and the WEF, which is represented in Japan with an Office in Tokyo, is an important partner for the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan.
