This stop-motion movie, the first feature-length film directed by the Swiss director Claude Barras, is finally screening in Japan. It was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 89th Academy Awards and earned many other distinctions.
The plot follows a boy’s tribulations after his mother’s sudden death. The delightful stop-motion animation technique helps create a poetic world that is complemented by the music of Swiss singer songwriter Sophie Hunger.
