Concert of Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra

Friday, 17.02.2017 – Friday, 17.02.2017

Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra is one of the most exciting Hungarian instrumental formations nowadays.

Named after the „Soul of Music”, on its first own evening at the Liszt Academy on 17 February, 2017 starting at 7.30 p.m., the Orchestra appears on stage with compositions selected from a wide-ranging repertoire mirroring their ars poetica.

The first part of the programme is framed by two compositions marking the starting and ending point of this musical travel in time: a surprisingly modern programme music by H. I. F. Biber showing a contemporary, 17th century battle - La Battaglia is opposed to Máté Balogh’s work Luca Marenzio in Salzburg. Composed at the special request of Anima Musicae in 2012, the work of the young composer and teacher of the Liszt Academy has since, among others, been performed at the famous Bozar venue in Bruxelles.

The outstanding cellist, Ditta Rohmann shares not only her Alma Mater with the Orchestra – their paths are closely intertwined through wonderful concerts performed together. Known as an excellent interpreter of Bach-masterpieces, she has won 2nd prize at the renowned Bach Competition Leipzig in 2012, receiving the Special Prize of the C. Ph. Bach Society as well. Ditta Rohmann will join the Orchestra on this special occasion to play the solo part of C. Ph. E. Bach’s Cello Concerto.

In the second half of the evening, the rarely played Hymn of the Swiss composer Arthur Honegger can be heard. The reason for this choice is the 125th anniversary of the composer’s birth. His contemporary was B. Bartók, whose only piece written for a string orchestra, the Divertimento deservedly closes this multifaceted programme.
