Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises SCORE, Phase II

SCORE is a practical modular training and workplace improvement programme to increase the productivity of SMEs while promoting cleaner production and respect for workers? rights. SCORE demonstrates best international practice in manufacturing and service sectors and helps SMEs to participate in global supply chains.

National Quality System, Phase II

The program aims at improving the capacity of conformity assessment institutions to enable them to provide world class services in the area of standardization, testing, certification and inspection for key export value chains (fruit/vegetables, cocoa, fish products, wood). These value chains will act as drivers for an improved national quality system and have an important poverty reduction potential. Apart from "traditional" quality and health safety standards, the program will also support the uptake and implementation of private voluntary standards by producers.


The Sustainable Trade Initiative IDH

IDH is a neutral convener that brings together companies in a safe pre-competitive arena, acts as facilitator to organize cooperation between companies, NGOs, governments, knowledge institutes, banks and trade unions. IDH kick-starts sustainability programs by co-funding and de-risking private investments, and helps exploring new concepts that will help create scalable, self-sustaining solutions that deliver impact at scale on Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on: improved livelihoods of smallholder farmers and increased, decent incomes for workers to help end poverty (SDG1), promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth (SDG 8), improve gender equality (SDG 5), nutrition (SDG 2) and help to halt deforestation (SDG 15) and reduce toxic loading.

Textile Ethical Fashion, International Trade Center

The International Trade Center project aims at increasing employment in local working communities by establishing a sustainable export market between the international fashion system and a network of disadvantaged African working communities (with particular reference to women entrepreneurs), designers and small manufacturers, based in Ghana and to some extent in two neighboring countries: Burkina Faso and Mali.

Sustainable Public Procurement

Following the successful implementation of the Ghanaian procurement reform, which was supported by a previous SECO project between 2003 and 2006, the goal of this project is to embed the principles of transparency, accountability and sustainability in public procurement. More specifically, the project aims at: ensuring open access to information and a transparent procurement management system for all bidders (transparency)- making public procurement a trigger to encourage the private sector to provide better and innovative goods and services that will integrate social and environmental considerations (sustainability)- and enabling procurement entities to report on their activities so that they can be held responsible for the execution of their budget and the use of public funds (accountability).

Organic Fair Trade Cocoa, Ghana

The project shall enable a significant and growing number of farmers in three cocoa districts of Ghana to improve their livelihoods in a sustainable way by adopting organic and fair-trade standards for cocoa production and by selling their produce via traceable value chains to market players in the Swiss chocolate sector.

GEDAP I Electricity Sector Reform and Extension

The program aims at improving the performance of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) as well as financing electricity access in poor urban areas. The project is part of a larger program entitled Ghana Electricity Development and Access Project (GEDAP) led by the World Bank.
