ASWAN, Egypt – The Ambassador of Switzerland to Egypt Markus Leitner, the Governor of Aswan Magdy Hegazy, and the Chairman of the Aswan Water and Sanitation Company (AWSC) will inaugurate on 20th of February a project in Aswan city that will improve potable water supply to 100,000 people in the informal settlement of Al-Nassereya.

The project, which began in December 2012, is funded by the Swiss government with a grant of 5 million CHF (approximately 40 million EGP) and by the Egyptian government of 5 million EGP. A pumping station, a ground reservoir and three kilometers of transmission pipelines and 9.5 kilometers of rehabilitated networks are now successfully set up in Al-Nassereya, which has long suffered from irregular and interrupted potable water supply.
