Appui à la gestion foncière

Lancé depuis 2008 au Burundi et 2011 en RDC, le programme d’appui à la gestion foncière met le focus stratégique sur la sécurisation des droits en milieu rural ainsi que le développement et la mise en œuvre des politiques foncières en vue de garantir une meilleure gouvernance dans ce domaine et la réduction des conflits dans les communautés. Le focus portera sur le renforcement et l’extention des services fonciers, la reconnaissance des droits sur les terres rurales et l’amélioration du cadre légal et politique.

Trans-Border Dialogue for Peace in the Great Lakes Region

Jointly with the Swedish Development Cooperation (SIDA) and the Division Human Security (DHS), SDC will support a program on trans-border dialogue for peace in the Great Lakes region run by Interpeace. Through a research and dialogue process, the program seeks to address the root causes behind the recurrent conflicts in the Great Lakes region and will propose and disseminate concrete consensus-based solutions to decision makers taking into account the concerns and recommendations of local populations.

Les médias des pays des Grands Lacs (Rwanda, Burundi. RDC) jouent un rôle clé dans la consolidation de la paix, dans le renforcement de la citoyenneté et dans la construction de la démocratie. Les médias sont confrontés à des difficultés d’ordre professionnel, économique, politique et juridique. Ce programme contribuera à la consolidation de la liberté d’expression et au droit à l’information, tout en renforçant les compétences et la pluralité des médias.

OIM: Assistance aux populations déplacées dans le Nord-Kivu, DRC, par la gestion et la coordination des sites

Suite aux différentes crises sécuritaires qui ont secoué l’Est de la RDC, et plus particulièrement le Nord Kivu ces dernières années, et en raison des menaces constantes d’insécurité qui pèsent encore sur la région, les camps et sites de Personnes Déplacées Internes (PDIs) accueillent toujours plus de 375 000 personnes dans cette Province. Les sites de déplacés du Masisi reçoivent moins d’attention et l’aide humanitaire n’est pas suffisamment coordonnée en raison de l’accès plus difficile de ce territoire. Le financement de la DDC permettra de soutenir la mise en œuvre immédiate d’un système de gestion des sites spontanés dans la région du Masisi.

Food security in the Great Lakes Region - Nutrition

The program addresses malnutrition by piloting a coordinated multi-stakeholder approach of the four UN agencies UNICEF, WHO, WFP and FAO together with the two Governments of Rwanda and Burundi. The activities will take place in two districts of Rwanda (Nyamagabe and Rutsiro) and one province of Burundi (Ngozi) where food insecurity and poverty are at highest level. The focus is on the reduction of chronic malnutrition of children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers.

Despite the political and humanitarian crisis Burundi is experiencing, the SDC remains committed to providing help directly to the people. In the health sector it aims to strengthen treatment capacity in health centres and district hospitals so that these can provide accessible, good-quality care. The SDC programme covers both Burundi and Rwanda.
