The Consulate General of Switzerland cordially invites Alumni of Swiss Public Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences currently living in Hong Kong and Macao (incl. current and former exchange students) to the Swiss Alumni event 2018 entitled;

“EPFL: 50 Years of Innovation and a Look into the Future”

Abstract:
EPFL will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019. The talk will highlight EPFL’s spectacular journey during the last years and shed light on the innovative spirit behind EPFL. But 50 years are also a reason to look ahead and address new exciting challenges and opportunities

We are delighted to have Professor Martin Vetterli, President of EPFL, to give the key note speech and to share with us his insights.

Prior to his current position as President of EPFL, Mr. Vetterli was the President of the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich in 1981, a Master of Science degree from Stanford University in 1982, and a PhD from EPFL in 1986. Prof. Vetterli taught at Columbia University as an assistant and then associate professor. He was subsequently named full professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley. In 1995, he returned to EPFL as a full professor and Head of the School’s Audiovisual Communications Laboratory (LCAV). Please refer to his full bio here
