The project aims at improving the capacities of forensic experts in Bulgaria in order to comply with the European standards EA ISO / IEC 17025 in the field of forensic investigations.

- Establish a center for forensic expert training situated in the Academy MoI
- Exchange of expertise with the Swiss Partner (study visits, workshops)
- Design and introduce new curriculum and related educational documentation for forensic expert training
- Purchase of new equipment allowing better reliability and speediness of DNA analysis are purchased and put in operation
- Clear outline of the actual legal framework and existing gaps elaborated
- Overall improvement in professional training of the forensic experts of the Ministry of the Interior, the Research Institute on Forensic Science and Criminology (RIFSC) is enabled to work more efficiently and according to European standards as its technical capacity to investigate material traces of crime scenes has been substantially improved
- New forensic training centre with modern facilities and equipment
- Upgraded training program with new curriculum and related educational documentation and manuals
- The RIFSC has been certified according to ISO/IEC 17025 in the field of DNA and Trace Marks and Ballistics examinations
