The Sudokkho project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and UK aid, supports market-responsive skills training in Bangladesh in two vital sectors: apparel and construction. It brings on-board private sector and private training providers to test and up-scale market-driven, innovative and sustainable training systems in these two sectors creating better job opportunities for poor citizens. In collaboration with some of the leading international apparel brands, Sudokkho provides technical assistance to their supplier factories, such as Hop Yick Bangladesh, to setup in-factory training systems for workers. The project is implemented by Palladium, in consortium with Swisscontact and British Council, under the guidance of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Ministry of Education.
Earlier on 02 April 2017, the Swiss delegation met with leaders of the Swiss and Bangladeshi business community and discussed economic opportunities and challenges in Bangladesh. The delegation also met with NGO leaders, members of the civil society and cultural personalities. This visit takes place at a time when Switzerland and Bangladesh are celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two befriended countries. At present, trade and investment, and development cooperation are the two strongest pillars of the bilateral relations.
