Karen Barseghyan, a contemporary painter from Gyumri will present his original art pieces on „Armenian Jeans“ in the hall located on 3 Pavstos Buzand str. The exhibition will be open from December 5 to 10, 2016. On December 7, the artist will share his story called „Chinese Teapot“.

Karen Barseghyan is one of the survivors of the Spitak earthquake of 1988, where Swiss-Armenian cooperation started.

First, Switzerland provided rescue assistance and constructed houses in Spitak. Since then, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation has been supporting Armenia in addressing different social and humanitarian needs: housing for refugees, social housing, assistance to the elderly, as well as in building up a comprehensive disaster preparedness system. This included training of firefighters, medical staff, and creating regional rapid respond teams, who all received modern equipment to fulfil their tasks professionally.

This exhibition is a token of 28-year presence of Swiss Humanitarian Aid in the South Caucasus and a celebration of preparedness of the Armenian rescue system to respond rapidly and professionally in case of a natural disaster in the country.
